Australian Rugby Union today announced a ticket price schedule for the first ever Rugby Test to be played on the Gold Coast between the Qantas Wallabies and Argentina at Skilled Park on Saturday 15 September.
The international will be an historic event on two fronts - apart from the Gold Coast joining the list of Qantas Wallabies home venues, it will be the first time the Qantas Wallabies will have played the Pumas as part of The Castrol Edge Rugby Championship.
The newly created Championship, involving the Qantas Wallabies, All Blacks, Springboks and Argentina, replaces the previous Tri Nations series which did not include the Pumas.
Tickets to the historic Qantas Wallabies-Argentina clash will go on sale via Ticketek on Tuesday 7 August with a family of four package available from just $60.
Adult tickets start at $30 and children $15.
ARU Managing Director and CEO, John O'Neill, said ARU wanted to ensure the historic Test was affordable for everyone.
"The Castrol Edge Rugby Championship is the beginning of a new era in Southern Hemisphere Rugby and the Qantas Wallabies Test against Argentina at Skilled Park will be an historic occasion," Mr O'Neill said.
"That is why we've ensured ticket prices allow Rugby fans of all ages the chance to come and see history being made.
"The Pumas showed during last year's Rugby World Cup that they are strong competitors and these ticket prices represent great value for what will be an exciting Test match."
Queensland Premier Anna Bligh said the inclusion of the Gold Coast on the international program was part of a 10-year agreement between the Queensland Government, through Events Queensland, and the ARU to bring more international Tests to the State.
"Queenslanders love their Rugby and to host the first Argentinian Test on the Gold Coast is an historic occasion which will attract local fans as well as visitors from interstate and overseas - which is great news for the State tourism industry and local economy," said Ms Bligh.
"Attracting world class major events like this one is part of our plan to continue building Queensland's bright future.
"The Castrol Edge Rugby Championship joins a number of highly anticipated Rugby Tests on Queensland’s event calendar including the Gold Coast Sevens - Fever Pitch tournament, Bledisloe Cup Test, The Castrol Edge Wales Tour, and the 2013 Lions Tour - further cementing Queensland's status as Australia's true Rugby Heartland."
