Events Queensland attracts, supports, grows and promotes successful events in Queensland, Australia.

Through building a dynamic and diverse events calendar, and strategic investment across a range of major, business and regional events, Events Queensland supports regional economies and showcases Queensland as a place where events shine.

Varying from major international tournaments to small community-run festivals, all these events share a common goal - to boost the social and economic prosperity of Queensland.

Events play a vital role in attracting visitors to Queensland and supporting the state’s $9 billion tourism industry – an industry that sustains more than 200,000 direct and indirect jobs. It is estimated that events deliver an overall economic boost to Queensland of almost $1 billion a year.

Events Queensland has a subsidiary company, Events Queensland Gold Coast, which owns and operates the popular Gold Coast Airport Marathon and the biennial Pan Pacific Masters Games.

The Events Queensland Regional Development Program also ensures benefits reach far beyond cities and into smaller communities throughout Queensland.

An initiative of Events Queensland, the Asia Pacific Screen Awards promote and acclaim cinematic excellence and cultural diversity of the vast Asia-Pacific region.

Does Events Queensland support smaller regional events and festivals?

The Events Queensland Regional Development Program (EQRDP) provides assistance to events outside of the Brisbane City Council local government area. The EQRDP strategically invests in events that are seen to have the potential to drive visitors to their area and support local business. EQRDP supports a diverse portfolio of events throughout the state, ensuring that all parts of Queensland experience the economic, cultural and social benefits of successful events.

Events Queensland is responsible for identifying, attracting and developing significant events that contribute to the Queensland economy, Queensland industries, enhance the profile of Queensland and foster community pride.

  1. Identify, secure and/or create new events that contribute to the generation of economic, marketing or tourism outcomes.
  2. Ensure existing events supported by Events Queensland continue to generate economic, marketing or tourism outcomes.
  3. Provide whole-of-Government leadership for events in the State and promote the importance of the events industry in Queensland.
  4. Support events across Queensland that build the social, physical and knowledge infrastructure of the events industry.
